2023年9月26日至30日，香港科技大学（广州）（以下简称“港科大（广州）”）将在澳洲悉尼和墨尔本面向8所顶尖高校举行硕士招生校园宣讲会，港科大广州红鸟硕士学部的招生老师将会在现场，介绍硕士招生相关政策，与您进行面对面的交流答疑。
HKUST (GZ) will be hosting dedicated admission information sessions and presentations in Sydney and Melbourne from Sep 26th to 30th. The admission teachers of HKUST(GZ) Redbird MPhil Department will be on site to introduce the MPhil admission policies and have a face-to-face conversation with you.

About HKUST(GZ)
香港科技大学（广州）是《粤港澳大湾区发展规划纲要》及《广州南沙深化面向世界的粤港澳全面合作总体方案》颁布实施以来成立的首家具有独立法人资格的内地与香港合作办学机构。2022年6月香港科技大学（广州）获教育部批准正式设立，2022年9月港科大（广州）正式开学。
Formally established in June 2022, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) (HKUST(GZ)) is a cooperatively-run university between the Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. HKUST(GZ) has obtained approval from the Ministry of Education (MoE) and become the first legally-independent educational institution co-established by the Mainland and Hong Kong since the announcement and implementation of the “Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” and the “Overall Plan for Deepening Globally Oriented Comprehensive Co-operation amongst Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in Nansha of Guangzhou”.
香港科技大学（广州）与香港科技大学在“港科大一体，双校互补”的框架下开展合作，两校在学术规范、师资水平、课程质量等方面保持一致，实现资源共享、优势互补。香港科技大学（广州）采用全新的融合学科架构，以“枢纽”（Hub）和“学域”（Thrust）取代传统学科学术架构的“学院”和“学系”，推动学科交叉融合，这是全球高等教育界的一项创举。
In response to the increasingly complex challenges faced by the rapidly changing world, HKUST(GZ) adopts a brand-new and cross-disciplinary academic structure featuring “Hub” and “Thrust” to substitute the conventional one characterized by “school” and “department”, facilitating cross-disciplinary integration while vigorously developing emerging and frontier disciplines. This is a groundbreaking move in the higher education community across the globe. HKUST(GZ) comprises four Hubs, namely Function Hub，Information Hub, Systems Hub, Society Hub and 16 thrusts.

AboutRedbird MPhil Program
为实现“复合型创新创业领军人才”的培养目标，港科大（广州）首先设计并施行未来领军人才学术型硕士培养项目，即“红鸟硕士项目”，重点围绕“未来医疗健康保健技术、可持续生活和智能工业化”三个人类社会当前和未来可能遇到重大挑战的领域，以人类社会发展重大需求为指引、以国家创新驱动发展和科技自立自强的战略需求为动力、以解决社会发展“痛点”及打破产业发展“瓶颈”为目标、以具有多学科融合特点的科研项目为育人载体，通过项目引导式的创新教学方法，探索“以学生为中心”的融合学科育人范式，为未来的战略工程师和战略科学家发现自我、挖掘潜力并不断提升能力创造优渥的成长环境。
The Red Bird MPhil Program is a Master of Philosophy Program designed by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) to achieve the goal of cultivating \”Compound innovative and entrepreneurial talents\”. The program explores a student-centered interdisciplinary education paradigm through guided learning, creating an optimal growth environment for future strategic engineers and scientists to discover themselves, unleash their potential, and continuously improve their abilities.
红鸟硕士项目突破传统硕士生招生的专业划分模式，不设置学科和专业分界线，研究领域所涉及的学科和专业涵盖了学校四大枢纽及其学域。学生可以根据自身兴趣、教育背景和未来职业规划选择其中一个培养方向。在进行前6个月的自主学术探索后，通过双向选择，学生确定自己的学术导师。学术导师来自各个枢纽及学域，而学术导师所在的学域即为该学生的专业归属。红鸟硕士班始终坚持以学生为中心，通过团队项目引导的教学模式，让学生与各枢纽及学域学术导师、业界导师和项目导师一起共同完成团队项目和教学任务。
Project-based active learning model, encouraging students to form project teams to conduct research on integrated systems with challenging group project goals.
Well-designed group projects that practice the hub concept, are multidisciplinary and driven by real needs, are proposed by students, industry partners, academic faculties, or other channels.
Empower students to gain interdisciplinary knowledge, practicing team spirit and project management skills through project development process.
Breakthrough the traditional classroom, modularized courses are embedded into projects to ensure students get the best out of them.
Inpidual projects have a clearly defined research content to ensure student who completed the projects successfully are able to meet the MPhil academic requirements of HKUST
本项目学费为人民币40,000元/年，本校全日制研究型硕士研究生均可获得全额奖学金，金额为人民币10,000元/月（共24个月），无需单独申请。
Scholarships:RBM 120,000 per year, up to 2 years for full-time MPhil students.
Tuition Fees:RMB 40,000 per academic year.

申请本项目对本科专业有要求吗？
Are there any requirements for undergraduate to apply for Red Bird MPhil Program?
A
1. 本项目突破传统硕士生招生的专业划分模式，对本科专业不设限；
2. 本项目围绕“未来医疗健康保健技术、可持续生活、智能工业化”三个未来人类可能遇到重大挑战的方向进行招生，这三个方向所涉及的学科和专业涵盖了港科大（广州）四个枢纽及其学域；
3. 本项目申请人填写系统时请选择“Master of Philosophy (General)”，不需要选择具体枢纽或学域。
1. This program has no restrictions on undergraduate majors.
2. This program focuses on \”Future medical and healthcare technology, sustainable living and intelligent Industrialization\” three directions, which involve disciplines and majors covering the four hubs of HKUST (Guangzhou) and their thrusts. Applicants can choose one of the directions according to their own interests, educational background and future career plans. After 6 months of academic exploration, students will determine their academic supervisor through mutual selection.
3. Applicants should select \”Master of Philosophy (General)\” when submit their application in Online Admission System（OAS）, and do not need to select a specific hub or thrust.

1. 申请人需毕业于教育部认可的本科层次高等学校，并取得学士学位；
2. 申请人需取得相关英语成绩（见下）；
3. 申请人不需要提前联系导师。鼓励准备个人陈述、研究计划、推荐信，但非必须提交的材料。此外，本项目对申请人没有科研经历和论文发表的必须要求。
1. Applicants should obtained a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution, or an approved equivalent qualification.
2. Applicants have to fulfill English Language requirements (See below for details).
3. Applicants are not required to contact the professors in advance. Personal statements, research proposals, and recommendation letters are encouraged but not required. In addition, the program does not require applicants to have scientific research experience or to publish papers.

English Language Admission Requirements

1. 英语成绩：托福≥80 或雅思总分≥6.5（且每项成绩≥5.5）；
2. 申请人如果在申请时还没有取得托福或雅思成绩，可以正常提交申请。但是，需要在OAS（online admission system在线管理系统）填写计划考试时间，获得英语成绩后须上传考试结果；
3. 以下情况的申请人不需要提供托福或雅思成绩：
1）毕业于全英文授课的本科院校，须提供学校相关官方证明；
2）英语是母语。

After I submit my application, when will I know the admission result?

本项目招生采用滚动式录取，未设置统一录取时间，录取结果发放时间取决于实际申请批次的具体安排。
This program adopts rolling-base admission without setting a specific admission time, and the admission results will be notified depends on the specific arrangement of the actual application batch.

What are the graduation requirements for this program? What certificates are finally issued?

本项目的学生毕业要求与香港科技大学研究型硕士（MPhil）现行毕业要求一致。最后颁发香港科技大学研究型硕士学位证书。
1. The graduation requirements for MPhil students in this program are consistent with the current graduation requirements for the MPhil at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
2. The Master\’s degree certificate of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology will be awarded.

Will not participating in the Redbird Challenge Camp affect the results of the admissions application?

红鸟挑战营是港科大（广州）打造的品牌活动项目，活动主要目标之一是通过线上线下的项目引导式学习，选拔出认同港科大（广州）创新理念，具备潜能的未来红鸟硕士项目学生。没有参加红鸟挑战营不会影响本项目2024秋季申请。我们非常欢迎参加过红鸟挑战营但未获录取的学生继续申请本项目。

\”The RedBird Challenge Camp (Challenge Camp)\” is an innovative teaching through practice activity, aims to cultivate the comprehensive ability of college students. One of the main objectives of the event is to select potential Redbird MPhil program students who share the innovative concept of HKUST (GZ) through online and offline project-guided learning. Not participating in the Redbird Challenge Camp will not affect the application for the fall 2024 project. We warmly welcome students who have participated in the Redbird Challenge Camp but were not admitted to continue to apply for this program.

本项目的学费和奖学金如何？
Scholarship & Tuition Fees
A
本项目学费为人民币40,000元/年，本校全日制研究型硕士研究生均可获得全额奖学金，金额为人民币10,000元/月（共24个月），无需单独申请。
1. Scholarship: CNY120,000 per year, up to 2 years for full-time MPhil students.
All full-time MPhil students are automatically considered for the Postgraduate Studentship. No separate application is required.
2. Tuition Fees: CNY40,000 per year for MPhil studies with Postgraduate Studentship at HKUST(GZ).
